It’s amazing to still see emails from marketers, and there is no link at the bottom for unsubscribing.
Of course it’s impossible to know why, but maybe they’re afraid they will lose subscribers if they do offer an unsubscribe link. One glaring thought is that if your emails are providing good content, then few people will want to unsubscribe. If they, or you, are in the US, then by law you must give your readers an opportunity to unsubscribe from a marketing list. Furthermore, if anyone should want to unsubscribe from your list, then your link needs to take them to a page that will allow them to permanently unsubscribe from your list. If you want, you can force people to do the double opt-in because the thinking is that it will weed out those who are too lazy to do the double opt-in.
Just be stable and consistent with your emails, and keep each one to a single theme, or message. Just make each email centered on a central theme without trying to do more than that. If you include a lot of info on different topics you’ll only confuse the readers and they’ll stop reading. You’ll want to stay on topic, and always mention the primary benefit in your opening and subject line. When you do this, you’ll be conditioning your readers and it will be remembered when future emails arrive. But keep in mind what we’ve covered so far concerns promotional emails, and not the full content ezine or newsletter type mailings. However, for newsletters you really don’t want to bombard them with too much content spread all over the place.
In each email that you send out, put a clear call to action, and it doesn’t have to be to buy something, though. You should clearly tell the subscribers what you want them to do. Don’t be shy about it, if you have links in your email, then just tell them – “Click Here Now.” It’s fine to say it more than once, just put something in there in several places in your email. You will, though, want to avoid annoying your reader with too many calls to action, probably no more than three times. You’ll also have fewer conversions if you do not include any instructions if you need them. You do not ever want to make the assumption that people will figure stuff out on their very own. So always include benefits and then any clear instructions for them to follow.
You can succeed with email marketing, you just need to be knowledgeable about it. When you perform email list marketing, what you’re really doing is engaging in building relationships. Whatever you do, please do continue to take action and learn as much as possible.
