Now as a Canadian, right, recently Canada got dropped through both FIFA rankings, going to 100 which is terrible, you know, it is not good at all. In Canada there are lot of great talents . When I was in France, you know, growing up, I heard of you know, this player had gone overseas, this player had gone overseas, you know this player had gone overseas, you also hear down the way certain players had gone overseas, but very few numbers of them have actually made it, actually stayed there and progressed playing, actually to the stage till 2 well lot of, well lot of other players came back . When I was over there, I realized what was happening to all these Canadian players.
In fact when I was in France there were in just one season I was with the Club team with the six other Canadians would come over either with the foreign team over with the players outside, and what Yuri Elkaim noticed is that within the ratio of period time a lot of those guys five or six guys were sent home before Christmas, before the period of four to five months they were sent home without even having to play that much or even stay for a season, so what was it. You know, what is it, that separated these players from you know myself or other players before me who would basically been able to sustain the fact that the professional soccer lifestyle. Here are couples of things. Lot of guys coming over were in their 18s and 20s, whcih was considered as pretty much old in Europe . What are the things I realize that lot of the guys were homesick ok, so they want to with their families and as a result they were not able to cope with the demands of that environment . The second thing is that they didn’t have this Mindset of inherent professionalism. They didn’t know what it took in terms in terms of daily to be a professional . These are kids who are used to going out and partying with their friends, drinking, doing whatever they want and going into professional atmosphere afterwards was a big shock for them. Third thing was obviously a language barrier for lot of the, lot of them speak French, French obviously is a main language of France and as result they have tough time communicating and obviously excelling.
So these were very specific examples, but I want to bring them back to the fundamental concepts.
First thing is preparation, okay. No matter whatever you are going to get into, you need good preparation . It could be anything, it could be whether you want 20 pounds of muscle gain or you want to lose 20 pounds of fat . Transfer sport, get into professional sport, whatever it is you need to be prepared and you have to know what it takes to get to that level. So in this case preparation you know preparation demands taking up the some French classes . Brushing up on your French if you are taking a pass whatever it is the best you know get those tools ready, so that you can at least communicate on the field with your teammates at the very minimum.
Secondly, there is really a handful of top professional players that can get away with partying, drinking, and doing whatever you want, this is very important to understand from the soccer perspective . And even I have points, you know stuffiness around the point because a lot of professionals, lot of guys, it takes a lot of discipline, hard work, and commitments to certain lifestyle to play and stay at that level. Right so if your are training from Fitter U fitness twice a day, five days a week, into two games, whatever it might be you can’t going on parting, you can’t be drinking all the time. You need to get the things checked, and again if you are looking to put on muscle so you want to burn fat. Whatever, your goal is, you need to be realistic.
