With basic mindfulness exercises, your mind power can function more effectively because you’ll be in a state of awareness. They help you think more clearly and concentrate better. These exercises are easy as well.
More Mind Power In Minutes
To begin a basic mindfulness exercise, sit down and relax, breathe deeply through your nose. With your eyes closed, be aware of your breath going in and out. After a minute move your attention to your body, one part at a time, noting sensations of cold, hot, tight, sore and anything else you identify. You can begin listening to the sounds in the room in a few minutes, but don’t think about them. Clear your mind and listen.
You can open your eyes when it feels right and look around as if it’s the first you’re seeing these things. For half a minute, rest your eyes on an object and examine it without thinking about it or talking about it in your mind. Then focus your attention to another object all the while maintaining awareness of your breathing, body, and any sounds. Until you’re ready to get up, stay in this state of mindfulness.
Being aware of your immediate environment, breath, and body helps put you “in the moment.” Your mind is in a very receptive state with fewer mental distractions that prevent clear thinking. Doing a mindfulness exercise before important mental tasks will give you greater mind power, specifically more focus and concentration.
A Simpler Mindfulness Trick
You can try this one right now. When you’re feeling stressed, stop and try to identify what’s bothering you. Perhaps there’s an argument below your the surface of your consciousness or you’re worried about something or expecting that something bad is going to happen. Jot down everything you find.
What you need to do next is deal with these mind irritants. What you can do is make a phone call in your mind and apologize to whomever you’re fighting with and maybe even take an aspirin. To get them off your mind, write things on tomorrow’s list. If you feel that right now nothing can be done, then tell yourself that. Doing this exercise will not only help you feel less stressed, it will also make you more focus on the tasks at hand. It will result to you having more mind power today.
